Do you love how your favorite superstars do their action stunts? Seeing Daniel Craig’s action-packed scenes in the James Bond movie series surely put you in awe. What about your fan-favorite superheroes’ death-defying stunts? It’s the coolest thing, right?
If you believe your favorite stars do these intense routines themselves, think again. Celebrities usually have a body double or stunt double to do these action scenes without sweat, so these unsung heroes are the ones who truly deserve your credit.

Stunt doubles for celebrities are all professionals who are well-trained and fit to do these monstrous sequences. They film the most dangerous events, like jumping from one building to another, falling from a great height, complicated martial arts, or other sophisticated stunts, like intense fighting scenes.

They, too, should have the spitting image of the stars they are trying to imitate. If you ask us, we think finding the perfect stunt double is an art form in itself because one has to make sure that they perfectly fit their assigned celebrity’s appearance from head to toe. Mind you; not everyone will be up for such a risky challenge!

Are you wondering who among your beloved Hollywood stars have stunt doubles? Check this list, and be ready to see double trouble as their similarities will trick your eyes and make you do double-take!

Daniel Radcliffe | Harry Potter series

Geminio! If aimed at Harry Potter and with the appropriate hand flick, this charm should create the Boy Who Lived’s exact replica— or you can also just make use of a stunt double. In this case, it has been David Holmes. He has been the longtime action partner of Daniel Radcliffe over the years that he has been a star of the Harry Potter franchise. Holmes has also journeyed with those who waited for the whole saga to its completion.

It was sad though, that Holmes met an accident in 2009 during the filming of the last chapter, effectively ending his stuntman career. He deserves all the thanks and credit for the excellent work he did so far for the Harry Potter actor. On the bright side, Holmes and Radcliffe have developed a strong friendship and have started a new podcast they called Cunning Stunts, wherein they interview stunt performers around the globe to shed light on the industry.

Harrison Ford | Indiana Jones and Temple of Doom

Anyone who has seen the Indiana Jones movie series knows that the films are really full of intense stunts and fast-paced action scenes. Some of them are very iconic that there has even been a whole documentary dedicated to it called Great Movie Stunts: Raiders of the Lost Ark, which showed all the great moves in this film. Harrison Ford knows exactly what role his fellow Vic Armstrong plays and has recognized him for that in many ways.

He even sent a photograph of them together as a way of saying thanks. This shows the degree of appreciation that the actor had for someone who stood in for him on dangerous action sequences. On top of that, Armstrong did a few acting scenes in Ford’s stead when the latter sustained an injury. The lead actor had to recover before going back to filming entirely, so it was a wise decision on the production’s part to keep the cameras rolling.

Brad Pitt | The Counselor

When finding a double, that person must resemble the original actor to some extent. Brad Pitt’s unnamed double in The Counselor looks about 80% like him, except for the height. He is a little shorter than the actor, but that has not really stopped them from helping each other out. The movie is about a dealer who sells illegal substances, and Pitt is a lawyer who is running away from them. His performance and that of Penelope Cruz’ were said to be stellar in this film.

In one widely shared photo of the two, where they wear identical clothes, both the celebrity stud and his double seem to be occupied with how one scene would be done. They had to test the moves, check the spots, and agree on a strategy to make it look good camera. This double and Pitt were said to have been working for some time already, so please, do identify yourselves for us!

Tom Hardy | Bane

In the Dark Knight franchise, Tom Hardy plays the antagonist Bane. Fans and critics, however, were quick to point out that Hardy was not even needed in the movie because his character wears a mask all the time, and his voice has been altered to be unrecognizable. To them, it did not matter if Hardy played it or someone else. Furthermore, others also remarked that Buster Reeves, his double, did most of Bane’s action sequences anyway, so it was the stuntman doing all the work all along.

Because of this, many asked why Hardy’s name was put up in the film credits at all. Well, we cannot deny that the actor has a solid fan base, and just his name up on the screen can already draw some following. Simply put, it will attract more people to the cinemas. Of course, we also have to thank Reeves, who did an excellent job in bringing Bane to life, for the most part.

Johnny Depp | Pirates of the Caribbean

A stuntman’s job is never easy. While they might not be paid the same amount as the main actor, the production company has to make the necessary arrangements to pay their salary and keep them safe too. After all, doubles play a critical role in making the movie better for the audience. Such was the case for Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Unexpected things happen during filming— and Tony Angellotti, no matter how good a stuntman he is, could not have avoided the circumstance. During the filming of the second Pirates movie, the stuntman had a near-fatal accident. He went on a freefall while doing the human yo-yo scene, which caused severe damages. Angelotti ended up filing a lawsuit against Disney. While we could argue that the insurance company and Disney would pay for his medical bill, life may not be the same anymore for him. Therefore, care must really be exercised by everyone on the set, that is, to avoid mishaps as much as possible.

Anthony Mackie | The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

The purpose of a double is to trick the eye of the viewers, whether it is from afar or at a closer distance. Credit goes to Anthony Mackie’s double in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier for achieving precisely that. With Aaron Toney having his back, the actor can be assured that all action sequences are done perfectly. Their stance is almost identical that an ordinary person looking from far away would mistake one for the other.

Adopting each other’s quirks is only natural, considering the length of time they had worked together. Toney has been Mackie’s double for a number of films, including Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Ant-Man. The two are said to be loyal to each other and would usually confer on the best moves before executing them. They had also developed a strong friendship over the years, which most likely made Mackie sad when his double announced his retirement from the industry.

Tom Hiddleston | Avengers

The job of a stunt double is to make the life of the main actor easier. Did you know, though, that a double could also have a backup double? Yes! For high-budget movies like the Avengers series, production cannot stop, so in case there is any untoward incident, the backup double steps in. Any delay means a loss of investment for the team.

What makes life easier for the doubles is that Tom Hiddleston himself, who plays Loki, wants to learn the trade and do the stunts himself! He would often ask for tips on how to roll, jump, or somersault smoothly. This is all well and good for action moves that are generic in nature. For those that require expertise, however, such as kung fu or martial arts, it may be difficult. Very few Hollywood celebrities would do the stunts themselves, so it is commendable that Hiddleston is trying to do these himself.

Robert De Niro | The Godfather

The name Robert De Niro commands a certain level of respect. The 77-year-old actor has been in Hollywood for almost six decades and is well known for his collaborations with equally famed Martin Scorcese. One of his most remarkable films is The Godfather. He could quickly come up with an angry face, and so it would be a bad idea to cross him.

Given his age, there are not many sequences that the actor could do. So he is thankful for his double, Rick Avery, who did many of the moves in The War with Grandpa, a 2020 film. The younger Avery has to wear an exact replica of De Niro’s clothes and accessories, which is expected of a double. He also makes sure that everything is in order and would also confer with De Niro prior to rolling the camera. We credit him for being such a professional double.

Arnold Schwarzenegger | Terminator

The Terminator series is one of the most action-packed movie franchises of all time. At almost every turn, the lead star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has a to make a body-bending move. He could do many of the stunts considering his previous bodybuilding career. For extreme movements, though, the action star relied on Peter Kent. The decision to use a double meant that they had to look for someone who was as ripped as the actor, and they found that in Kent. Of course, the stuntman, who is also an actor, grabbed the opportunity. Side by side pictures of the two shows two large mountains.

The former California Governor has developed a friendship with Kent over the 12 movies they were together. Given the degree of closeness between the two of them, it was also expected they would do their workout routines together. The two even decided they would work together again in Commando, another blockbuster movie.

Daniel Craig | Casino Royale

If you think that Daniel Craig does all of the stunts in his James Bond movies, think again. While he can perform most of them, especially in Casino Royale, he also receives help from a stunt double. On many occasions, however, the actor insisted he does the stunt himself to learn the unique skills needed. Craig overreached at one point, and he lost a couple of teeth when filming Casino Royale in Prague. Good thing, there was his ever-reliable stuntman who was able to perform the rest of the moves for him.

The moves they made in Casino Royale are considered one of the best Bond stunts in the franchise’s history. The production team sure made the necessary investments so that they come out all good on the screen. Considering the 94% rating the movie got from Rotten Tomato, we can say that it was all worth it.

Ben Affleck | Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

So what happens if the physique of the actor is bigger than the double? Well, apparently nothing, just as Brad Pitt’s double is smaller than him, and that did not pose a problem at all. A slight angle change could make a difference. The reverse happened with Ben Affleck and Richard Cetrone, his double for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Triple Frontier. This time, Affleck got ripped that he was bigger than his double!

A selfie of the two shows how they are similar to a great degree. They both sport the same beard and with identical clothing. It is challenging to tell them apart, especially if they have their backs turned. According to Cetrone, when in the Batman suit, their body size difference did not matter anymore. He initially had reservations and said he was not a good double for Affleck, but the movie proved that the two are perfect for each other.

Megan Fox | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Megan Fox made her acting debut with Holiday in the Sun back in 2001. However, it was her portrayal of Mikaela Banes in Transformers that served as her breakout role. This was followed by a reprisal in the next movie, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen; the titular role in Jennifer’s Body; and as April O’Neill in the action film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

As the action sequences are a tad challenging, the production team for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles made investments in a body double. In a widely circulated photo of the two, Fox could be seen wearing a yellow jacket and sitting on a motorcycle, engrossed in an apparent chat with her body double. The ladies appear to be discussing a particular scene, sharing ideas on what has to be done to make the scene more interesting. Whatever they have agreed upon certainly worked, as audiences did not only enjoy the fight scenes, but they could also barely notice the difference between the two when in action.

Patrick Dempsey | Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Did you know that Patrick Dempsey also auditioned to become Dr. Chase on House? While Jesse Spencer got the role and did a good job, it would be interesting how this would play out if Dempsey were selected. He is, of course, famous for his role as “McDreamy” or Dr. Derek Shepherd in the series Grey’s Anatomy. Due to his popularity, the actor most likely asked for the best home security system to be installed at his Malibu residence.

When filming action movies, like that of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Dempsey likes using stunt doubles. His double looks like a young Dustin Hoffman more than him, but he gets the job done, so it should be good. A photo of them together shows Dempsey with hands on his hips, looking fierce, while the double appears to be squinting, probably looking towards an area with floodlights.

Ian McKellen | Lord of the Rings

We know that Ian McKellen was offered the role of Dumbledore after Richard Harris passed on in 2002. It would have been very magical because he also plays the role of Gandalf in Lord of the Rings. He could have easily adapted to the new role as quickly as he did from being Magneto to Gandalf. Now, this raises the question of who is more powerful than the two–but that is for another article.

When filming the movies, McKellen also enlists the help of doubles. The X-Men star actually had two in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. His stunt double, Basil Clapham, is his riding double, while another one plays as his scale double. Paul Randall is the one who appears when filming Hobbit scenes. So that the crew would know the real Gandalf, they asked McKellen to wear an old boot. It is an old trick, but we give it credit because it works.

Marc Ruffalo | Avengers

When the Hulk is not around, it is Bruce Banner who is present, and that role is played by the iconic Marc Ruffalo. He is a brilliant actor who has been nominated for an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award. As such, the Dark Waters star joins a select group of celebrities who were nominated for all four. Apart from acting, he also dabbled in stage directing.

In many of his films under the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ruffalo has worked with multi-talented stuntman Anthony Molinari, who looks about 90% like him. Make-up artists and hairstylists would not even have any degree of difficulty in making them appear similar as they are virtually twins with their hairstyle and beards almost identical. Molinari has also worked with famed actors like Jeremy Renner and George Clooney, though there is no resemblance whatsoever. This only shows how versatile a stuntman Molinari is.

Quvenzhané Wallis | Annie

Born August 28, 2003, Quvenzhané Wallis’ first stint in the entertainment industry was through her role in 2012’s Beasts of the Southern Wild. For her nomination in this film, she also takes credit for being the youngest actress to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. Not long after, Wallis had the chance to star in the modern take on the beloved musical, Annie.

Like every musical, both on-screen and onstage, Annie has plenty of song and dance segments to entertain audiences. With that said, it comes as no surprise Wallis had a body double to cover for her – perhaps for the movie’s more complicated sequences. Despite being a couple of years older than the actress, Wallis’ stand-in undoubtedly looks the part, and the two even spend some time off-camera practicing their moves together. Safe to say that upon watching, it would be hard to tell which shots have the actress and which ones have her double.

Rory McCann and Gwendoline Christie | Game Of Thrones

At this point, we have access to many amazing fantasy novels, some of which eventually got adapted for either the small or big screens. Well, one such series of books is A Song of Ice and Fire, and its TV series counterpart is HBO’s Game of Thrones.

Alongside its story, a portion of the show’s high degree of popularity comes from its characters, including Sandor Clegane, also known as The Hound, and Brienne of Tarth. With that said, fans of the series know that this duo doesn’t get along very well, and that relationship reached a defining point in season four. For their fight scene by the mountains, the character’s respective actors, Rory McCann and Gwendoline Christie, had stunt doubles at the ready. Even so, a good portion of the sequence was done by the actors themselves, who also brought in a lot of emotion to every strike they make and take from each other.

Rupert Grint | Harry Potter

Like other lines of work, an acting career is undoubtedly challenging. Though, in the long run, it can surely be a significant investment. Well, one such star who started his journey into the entertainment industry early is Rupert Grint. With his prior experience performing in school productions and local stage plays, Rupert began his career at 11 years old, debuting as the now-iconic Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter movies.

As the story progressed, the world that Ron and his friends, Harry and Hermione, live in continually became more and more dangerous. To adapt with the more challenging sequences to the big screens, the actors had stunt doubles—some of which even bear a slight resemblance to them! In fact, Rupert’s double even looks like he can pose as the actor’s sibling, and their similar hairstyle and grin further cements this.

John Travolta | The Forger

To ensure the actors’ safety, filmmakers and studio executives often spend portions of their investment money on stunt doubles. Although they sometimes don’t bear any resemblance, doubles almost always share the same build as the actors they’re assigned to. Besides appearances, however, these stunt doubles also study their actor’s movements. That way, they can have close-to-identical performances that can convince audiences that the actors themselves did it. Well, for this, let’s take a look at one of John Travolta’s doubles.

Through the years, the actor has starred in numerous films, including Grease, Pulp Fiction, Face/Off, and The Taking of Pelham 123. With that said, the actor is no stranger to working alongside stunt doubles. Well, as shown here, Travolta and his stunt double don’t bear that much of a resemblance. Even so, the two undoubtedly share the same build, so it’s safe to say they only film the stand-in from the neck down.

Michael J. Fox | Back To The Future

The entertainment industry is filled with numerous recognizable stars. No matter how long their careers have spanned, each undoubtedly has a signature role they are most known for. Well, one such name is Michael J. Fox. Beginning his career at 15 years old, starring on the TV show Leo and Me, the actor eventually garnered skyrocketing degrees of popularity for his performance as Marty McFly in the now-iconic Back to the Future movies.

Throughout the films, Fox’s Marty travels through various time periods, going through different challenges in each one. Good thing the actor isn’t alone, though. Besides his good friend Doc Brown, portrayed by Christopher Lloyd, Fox also had his stunt double Charlie Croughwell, Robert Bennett as his stand-in, and Kevin Holloway as his photo double. By the looks of it, it’s safe to say that having four versions of Marty surely helped make the most of the film’s production process.

Zac Efron | Dirty Grandpa

Like many celebrities, Zac Efron’s first experience in acting was in stage plays, performing for productions of Peter Pan, Little Shop of Horrors, and The Music Man. He eventually landed more on-screen roles, and not long after, garnered widespread recognition for his acting credit in Disney’s High School Musical movies.

After his stint in High School Musical, the actor has since worked on other projects such as Baywatch, The Greatest Showman, Neighbors, and Dirty Grandpa. For his work in the lastly-mentioned film, a few behind-the-scenes photos were taken, showing the actor alongside his just-as-fit stunt double. Despite being a comedy flick, Efron still needed a double for the more challenging parts – even his co-star Robert DeNiro has a double at the ready. It just goes to show that even entertaining comedies require just as much hard work and effort as their more bombastic and action-packed counterparts.

Shia LaBeouf | Transformers: Dark Of The Moon

At ten years old, Shia LaBeouf already did all that he could to help cover for things such as personal loans. His first gigs were as a stand-up comedian. After a few more stints in comedy clubs, LaBeouf eventually found his way into the entertainment industry, with his first shot to fame being in Disney’s TV show Even Stevens. Since then, he has worked on other titles such as Surf’s Up, Disturbia, Fury, and most especially, Michael Bay’s Transformers movies.

Like the actor, LaBeouf’s stunt double for the third Transformers installment, Dark of the Moon, also deserves praise and recognition. A gymnast at school who eventually joined Cirque du Soleil, Colin Follenweider has since worked as a stunt double on many movies over the years, making him one of the most in-demand stuntmen in the film industry today. A few movies that had the pleasure of having him along include Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, Die Hard 4.0, and The Losers.

Jennifer Lopez | Follow The Leader

Through the years, the entertainment industry has introduced us to numerous world-famous figures, and that, of course, includes Jennifer Lopez. Beginning her career as an actress, Jennifer has gained fame for her role in projects such as Out of Sight, The Wedding Planner, and Monster-In-Law. Along the way, she added singer and dancer to her resume, which brought her fame to an even higher degree.

Alongside performing in concerts, Lopez has also worked on music videos, including one for her hit song, Follow the Leader. Like film productions, a music video needs to be finished before a set deadline. Well, to make filming more efficient, it comes as no surprise the singer had a double – perhaps so they can film multiple scenes simultaneously. From afar, fans would agree that J-Lo No.2 looks just like the singer, but upon further inspection, many will surely be surprised. Even so, she undoubtedly looks the part.

Margot Robbie | Suicide Squad

At a young age, Margot Robbie already worked a variety of jobs, including as a bartender, a house cleaner, and even a Subway employee. Soon after, she took up drama lessons, and by 17 years old, began her journey into the acting scene. Since then, the actress has become well-known for her performance in movies such as The Wolf of Wall Street, I, Tonya, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

With that said, it would be a disservice to ignore her role as Harley Quinn in the DC film franchise. For the part, the actress got to work alongside stuntwoman Ingrid Kleinig, who got her first shot to fame in the 2000 Olympic Games, suspended 42 meters above the venue. Today, Kleinig has taken credit for not only doubling Robbie in Suicide Squad, but also for showcasing her stuntwoman skills in movies such as The Hobbit trilogy, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Chris Hemsworth | Marvel Cinematic Universe

In more recent years, the film industry has introduced us to plenty of comic book adaptations, and with it, many memorable characters. With that said, one such character is none other than Thor, famously portrayed by Chris Hemsworth. For the role, he often follows a diet and exercise routine to achieve his muscular build. With that in mind, it comes as no surprise he eventually made investments in his very own health and wellness app, Centr.

Among the many people who use his app include Chris’ stunt double Bobby Holland Hanton. Although he’s had the chance to work alongside Ryan Reynolds and Henry Cavill, Hanton is most known for being the Thor double in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Along with his acting chops, the actor continues to improve his muscular physique, requiring Hanton to step up his game, as well. After all, the stuntman is set to work once again alongside the actor in the upcoming film, Thor: Love and Thunder.

Chris Evans | Marvel Cinematic Universe

Like the previously-mentioned Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans gained widespread recognition for his role as the superhero Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America. Throughout his run as the highly beloved comic book character, the actor has showcased not only his acting chops, but also his impressive physique. Even so, Evans took a step back for his on-screen persona’s more dangerous sequences. For that, he has his friend and stunt double Sam Hargrave do the work.

Besides his involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hargrave has worked on other projects throughout his career, including films such as Conan the Barbarian, The Hunger Games movies, Suicide Squad, Atomic Blonde, and even Deadpool 2. Recently, the stuntman gave filmmaking a shot, and as a result, gained a higher degree of recognition and praise for his directorial debut: the 2020 action film Extraction. It’s safe to say he still has more tricks under his sleeve, just waiting to be revealed.

Chris Pratt | Jurassic World

An actor’s career can often take a surprising turn along the way. For Chris Pratt, his career began when he was 19 years old, debuting in the short film, Cursed Part 3. After a few more acting gigs, he finally landed his breakthrough role as Andy Dwyer in the TV show Parks and Recreation. Even so, that was just the beginning of the actor’s rise to celebrity stardom. Not long after, Pratt garnered even more attention for his role as Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Along with his newfound reputation as a leading actor, he got the chance to work alongside stunt double Tony McFarr. Since their first collaboration in Guardians of the Galaxy, McFarr has taken credit for being Pratt’s double in subsequent projects such as the Jurassic World franchise. Well, besides their professional bond, it would come as no surprise to know that the two have since become good friends.

Lynda Carter | Wonder Woman

Although they have become quite a trend in recent years, superheroes have been a part of the entertainment industry for some time already. In fact, more than a few comic book characters, notably Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man, have had the chance to be portrayed by several actors. With that said, it would be a disservice not to mention the ever-iconic Wonder Woman, famously depicted by Lynda Carter.

Before Gal Gadot landed the role, fans of the superhero looked forward to Lynda’s performance on the Wonder Woman TV series, which ran from 1975 to 1979. Besides the actress, the film studio also spent some investment money on Lynda’s stunt double, Jeannie Epper. Well, by the looks of it, it’s safe to say the show wouldn’t have been as successful if it wasn’t for the two of them. Since then, Epper has also dabbled in other projects and is now often considered the greatest stuntwoman the industry has ever had.

Uma Thurman | Kill Bill

Beginning her career as a model, Uma Thurman eventually made her way into the acting business with her debut role in Dangerous Liaisons. Not long after, she garnered even more fame with her acting credit in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction. With that said, her popularity only skyrocketed even higher when the two collaborated once more on the Kill Bill movies.

As the verb in the film’s title suggests, Kill Bill has plenty of action set pieces that Tarantino has become well-known for. With that in mind, it comes as no surprise that Thurman has her very own stunt double for the more challenging sequences, and that’s where Zoë Bell comes along. Besides being Thurman’s stuntwoman, Bell also had the chance to double for Cate Blanchett in Thor: Ragnarok. Since then, along with a few acting gigs, the stuntwoman has also shown interest in filmmaking. Perhaps her next project will be a directorial job – here’s to hoping.

Tom Cruise | Mission: Impossible

Through the years, Tom Cruise has made quite a name for himself under the Hollywood spotlight. Although he has become most known for his performance in films such as Top Gun, Rain Man, A Few Good Men, and of course, the Mission: Impossible movies, it’s safe to say that a portion of the fame comes from his habit of doing his own stunts. Even so, despite keeping insurance companies on their toes for his daredevil-esque reputation, the actor is no stranger to having a stunt double.

While Cruise has done numerous crazy stunts throughout his career, including piloting a helicopter for a chase scene and hanging outside of a plane mid-flight, that doesn’t mean he has no limits. In fact, for the sequences even riskier than the ones he does, the actor has his trusty stunt double Casey O’Neill. Besides working alongside the actor in the Mission: Impossible movies, the duo also collaborated in other projects, including The Last Samurai, Jack Reacher, and Knight and Day.

Chandler Riggs | The Walking Dead

It is often the case that stunt doubles are cast depending on how similar they appear to the actual actor. This is why it can be a bit of a trip seeing photos of them side-by-side. However, we can’t help but wonder how actor Chandler Riggs felt when he met his double for the first time. After all, the one doing all the dangerous stunts for him is a 33-year-old woman! She may not be one of the lead stars on the show, but we can credit Emily Brobst as part of the show’s success.

As Riggs’ stunt double, she gets the job done effectively and gives life to many of The Walking Dead’s heart-stopping scenes. Female stunt doubles aren’t as unusual as one might think. Aside from doubling for female actresses, they are also called in to portray younger males, which the bulkier stunt actors aren’t well suited for.

Keanu Reeves | John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum

Keanu Reeves is well-known for always taking on the bulk of his stunts by himself, but even an action hero like him could use a hand. He is already in his early fifties, so there is some limitation to what he can do. This is especially true when it came to choosing the film John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. Fortunately, he had his ever-reliable stunt double to make sure each scene looks good. If you have seen the film, then you know just how harrowing the stunts in it are.

Did you know that some of them go on to play much bigger roles later on? Just take Chad Stahelski for example. John Wick 3’s director used to be one of Reeves’ stunt doubles! No wonder he put in big investments into getting all the fight and action scenes in the film as perfect as possible.

Kerry Washington | Scandal

In the thrilling television series Scandal, actress Kerry Washington portrayed Olivia Pope, the head of a crisis management firm. Suffice to say, her character goes through a lot—including scenes that require a little help from a professional stunt double. If you’ve ever wondered what it might be like getting thrown against a glass door, just ask Natascha Hopkins. She is the one doing all the “heavy-lifting” for Washington on the show. However, her impressive resume doesn’t end there. She has also done stunt work for actresses such as Halle Berry, Zoe Kravitz, and even Beyonce.

According to Hopkins, the life of a stunt actor isn’t always glamorous. In fact, it requires a lot of maintenance, especially when it comes to muscle strength. There’s a lot of training that goes into it and since it can be very risky, having proper insurance is also an essential.

Mark Wahlberg | Transformers: Age of Extinction

Mark Wahlberg has made a name for himself in the industry as one of its finest action stars. He has starred in many blockbusters in the genre, including Transformers: Age of Extinction. There is one funny anecdote from stuntman Dan Mast about his experience working with Wahlberg. In an interview, he admitted that he had to work hard in order to achieve a similar physique as that of the actor’s.

It required an intense training program and a steady diet of protein shakes! Imagine the degree of discipline he had to work out 5 to 6 days a week on top of filming! The process must have been rough, but the results do show it was worth it.
Aside from working with Wahlberg, he had also worked on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and is set to be part of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Priyanka Chopra | Quantico

She may be a pretty face, but it doesn’t mean actress Priyanka Chopra isn’t capable of holding her own when it comes to filming fight scenes! She starred as Alex Parrish, an FBI agent who was fighting to prove her innocence, on the show Quantico. Taking on the role gave Chopra plenty of action, but they also made sure she had a bit of help along the way. After all, this is the actress’ first foray in the genre.

Much of the credit goes to her stunt double Aja Frary for helping them put together those thrilling shots. Since Chopra also took on some of the work by herself, Frary made sure that she stayed safe by providing the actress with fighting tips! While the show has since ended, we are sure that Chopra is a lot more confident taking on similar roles in the future.

Rebel Wilson | Isn’t It Romantic

In the 2019 film Isn’t It Romantic, Rebel Wilson’s character goes through all sorts of comedic encounters. A few of which required the help of stunt double, Myra “Dakota” Brown. Brown was certainly the right person for the task, considering all the years she has spent falling off of buildings and getting “hit” by cars for her job as a stunt actress. She has worked on movies such as Riding in Cars with Boys and National Treasure. On top of that, Brown has worked on all six seasons of the show The Sopranos.

Life for Brown isn’t all action, however. Outside of working on movies and TV shows, she puts her investments toward ensuring a good life for her family. She has one daughter named Winnie and though she’s still too young to understand her mom’s job, we’re sure she’d be plenty proud once she grows up!

Regina King | Southland

Our next pair could easily be mistaken for as sisters! Regina King’s stunt double on the show Southland isn’t just similar to her in features, but also in height and shape. Needless to say, this was the perfect casting. King is well-known for choosing roles that represent strong women and she isn’t afraid of the work that goes with it.

In Southland, she portrays Detective Lydia Adams who deals with plenty of unsavory characters in the streets of Los Angeles. It’s a job that comes with a degree of danger and to pull off some of those thrilling scenes, she needs the help of her trusty stunt double. The show is still on air so it’s quite exciting to see what other stunts we might get to see. From dodging bullets to car chases, we’re sure it’ll be as exciting as ever.

Jackie Chan | Kung Fu Yoga

Jackie Chan’s legacy is incomparable both in Hollywood and in the Chinese film industries. He is best known for performing all the stunts by himself, taking on the danger and getting plenty of injuries along the way. It’s no secret that he has broken plenty of bones while filming and has had numerous close calls as well. Of course, age has slowly caught up with the actor and he is first to admit that his endurance and skill isn’t what it used to be. Fortunately for him, he has found the right stunt double.

Meet Liu Peng. He doesn’t just resemble a younger version of the actor, but also has a similar talent as him. Peng has been doubling for Chan since 2014 and worked with him on the films Bleeding Steel, Railroad Tigers, and Skiptrace. It’s not a bad change of pace from working in the military to working in movies!

Jamie Alexander | Blindspot

Some actors work with their doubles for just a few episodes or for a few scenes, while there are those who continue their partnership for years. This is the case with Jamie Alexander and her double, Kylie Furneaux. The two could be easily mistaken for as sisters! They formed a close bond on the set of Blindspot and the two have had each other’s back for over a decade now. Needless to say, not only did these two become good friends, but they have also begun to share similar hobbies. Well, except for the fact that Alexander is still yet to pick-up Kung Fu or jump out of planes.

One notable thing about this bond is that Alexander also has a great business relationship with Furneaux, who she views as an excellent investment. For most of the movies she has done that required stunt work, you can be sure that Furneaux is there to guide her.

Game of Thrones Cast

Viewers of Game of Thrones often sing praises when it comes to the show’s many thrilling scenes. From perfectly choreographed fight scenes to heart-stopping stunts, there’s no shortage of action when it comes to this program. Of course, while we must applaud the directors and writers behind it, much of the credit goes to the stunt actors who risked their lives to get the shot just right.

This includes Emilia Clarke’s double Rosie Mac, Rebecca Van Cleave, who worked with Lena Headey, and Mark Slaughter, who portrayed Gwendoline Christie. They are just three stunt doubles of the cast that helped make the show even greater. Once you see a photo of them side-by-side, however, you might be amazed at the resemblance. It’s quite amazing to see the physical changes they had to go through as well. The closest one in our opinion? Emile Clarke and Rosie Mac!

Kate Winslet | Titanic

Titanic is one of the most enduring romantic movies of all time, but even the actors who participated in it needed a bit of help when it came to doing their stunts. Kate Winslet’s double certainly took her role seriously. When it came to physical changes, she went above and beyond. First, they had to match their hair, then she had to prepare physically. After all, most of the stunts involved being in water for long periods, while also trying to maintain balance as they got tossed about. Needless to say, it involved a degree of dedication and discipline. The final results certainly prove that.

Here’s a little extra tidbit from the set: Did you know that many of the stunt actors who were part of the engine room scenes were only 5 feet tall? This helped with making the room appear bigger!

Bill Bixby | The Incredible Hulk

There have been many stuntmen in history who gained similar fame as the actors they worked with. This is true for Manny Perry, who worked as a stunt double and coordinator. He began his career in an entirely different field, however. Perry was a star in the bodybuilding world prior to getting into movies. In fact, he had won titles for Mr. America, Mr. USA, and Mr. World during his time competing. One of his first jobs was working for Lou Ferrigno and Bill Bixby in the show, The Incredible Hulk.

Together with Frank Orsatti, who was Bixby’s double, they helped the show’s titular character come to life. He’s been in the business for over three decades now and has about 200 stunts to his credit. Perry was also one of the first African American stuntmen, helping pave the way for others to come!

Hugh Jackman | Wolverine

Finding someone who can match Hugh Jackman for his role as Wolverine was certainly a tall order for casting directors. After all, Jackman took his role very seriously and put in the investments to bulk up for the character. Fortunately, they did find a match in Richard Bradshaw—who also happens to be Jackman’s brother-in-law. The best bit? Bradshaw is a trained actor and had been working as a stuntman for years! In fact, before he was cast, he had already appeared in films such as Tomorrow Never Dies, The Fifth Element, and Titanic.

Aside from working as a stunt double, he also worked as part of production for the show Game of Thrones. As a stunt coordinator, he helped choreograph scenes for more than 20 episodes of the series. For Wolverine, he did some of the more difficult stunts, while also guiding Jackman on how to perform some on his own!

Michael Douglas | Ant Man

Here’s another case of actors and stunt doubles becoming the best of friends. Michael Douglas and stunt double Michael Runyard first worked together on the 1988 film Black Rain. Following this job, the two ended up becoming good friends and chose to work with each other whenever the opportunity arose. In fact, the two are also golfing buddies! With 26 years of friendship between them, it’s not too surprising to see the amount of trust that Douglas has in Runyard. Even in his most recent projects, such as Ant Man, Runyard remains his go-to man.

Aside from working with Douglas, Runyard has also done work for other actors such as Harrison Ford, Christopher Walken, Adam Sandler, and Sean Connery. While retirement might still be far away, we sure hope Runyard has proper insurance to make sure he is well protected from the risks involved with his job.

Angelina Jolie | Salt

Working as a stunt double for someone like Angelina Jolie must require plenty of hard work. After all, the actress often takes on a bulk of the work herself so anything that she leaves for her double must be truly difficult. Who better to take on that than Eunice Huthart? She is the first female TV Gladiator, after all! The two first met on the set of Tomb Raider and have developed a good relationship since. Trust is key when it comes to performing risky stunts, after all, so having someone reliable there with her must be an extra comfort to Jolie.

They have been working together for over a decade and Huthart only has compliments for the actress. Of course, the job isn’t all glamour and Huthart has experienced her fair share of injuries, which is why she always considers health when it comes to her investment planning.

Elijah Wood | Lord Of The Rings

When Elijah Wood had to portray Frodo, his Hobbit character in the Lord of the Rings films, he needed to scale down more. He had nothing to worry about anymore because his scale double, Kiran Shah, came to help. Kiran Shah landed the Guinness World Records as the world’s shortest stuntman. He has appeared in almost 40 films as a body double or a stuntman. His credits include blockbusters like Braveheart, Titanic, Superman I and II, Return of the Jedi, among many others, where he worked as the stunt double of the children in these movies.

Meanwhile, Wood continues to be active in the Hollywood industry. He recently received acting credits in the dark comedy series Wilfred, for which he garnered a best actor award nomination from Satellite Award. In 2010, he founded SpectreVision, a production company that specializes in producing horror movies.

Danny Trejo | Machete Kills

In 2013, Danny Trejo starred as Isador “Machete” Cortez in the film Machete Kills. You can see him all smiles in this photo with his stuntman, suggesting that he’s happy to work with him. Since beginning his career, the 76-year-old actor has been vocal about his admiration for stunt performers and commended all their hard work. He even called out an actor who attempted to do his own stunts on quite a few occasions.

In an interview, he expressed that he prefers having stunt people to help them have jobs. “I don’t want to risk 80 peoples’ jobs,” he added. He pointed out that stunt performers are also hired for a reason, to keep actors safe. Well, we highly agree with his sentiments. While they have insurance, actors can always rely on stuntmen to do their expertise in the execution of quality stunts.

Kurt Russell| Escape from New York

Back in the day, Kurt Russell’s name was almost everywhere— whether in the big or small screens. He was a huge star in the ’70s and ’80s, and even until today, his name still rings a bell. Fans can remember his iconic role as the Snake Plissken in Escape from New York. His stuntman, Dick Warlock, however, didn’t have it easy filling in for him.

While filming the fight scene, the man portraying his opponent was actually a real wrestler named Ox. Apparently, the latter didn’t know how to act, and instead, he beat the stunt double to a huge degree. In another scene where Russell had to do his own stunts and finally eliminate Ox, he admitted that he hit the wrestler a little harder, avenging his stuntman. The actor was quite sneaky doing this, but his fans still rooted for him upon knowing this secret.

Clay Donahue Fontenot |Iron Man

A stuntman’s role can’t be taken for granted. The action scenes that are meant to awe us are actually a product of intense hard work. Clay Donahue Fontenot might not be a familiar name, but he has worked as a stunt double in more than 60 movies. He is listed among Business Insiders’ most sought-after stuntmen in the film industry.

In case you don’t know, Fontenot is the man behind the Iron Man suit, performing actor Robert Downey Jr.’s stunts. The Iron Man suit was specifically designed and measured for his body size. The renowned stuntman has also appeared in other blockbusters, such as Guardians of the Galaxy, Fantastic Four, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Blade trilogy, and many more. He has been the unsung hero in many of the biggest action films in the last two decades, and we have to give him huge credit for it.

Jim Carrey & Cameron Diaz | The Mask

Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz wanted to make sure their movie will be incredible, and so they had to seek stunt doubles to help them portray the dancing scene in the 1994 film, The Mask. Well, don’t they look similar in form? We could quickly mistake one for the other while watching them from afar. Apparently, these actors can’t do all have the dance moves required of them, so these professional dancers came to the rescue.

After The Mask, Carrey went on to star in Bruce Almighty, Yes Man, and Me, Myself & Irene. He has published two books titled How Roland Rolls and Memoirs and Misinformation. On the other hand, Cameron Diaz gained further prominence in Hollywood and became a sought-after, highest-paid actress. She increased her credit reports with roles in the movies Vanilla Sky, Charlie’s Angels, and Gangs of New York.’

Jason Momoa & Amber Heard | Aquaman

As people say, not all heroes wear capes. Jason Momoa, the actor who portrayed Aquaman, had his own hero while filming the DC comic superhero movie. He actually does several of his own stunts in films, but he decided to ask for help from his professional doppelgangers to perform the extravagant action sequences. “I’m almost 40, and it’s starting to hurt,” Momoa shared on one occasion. Even actress Amber Heard, who portrayed Mera, needed a stunt double.

Momoa catapulted to fame for his role as the infamous Khal Drogo in the fantasy drama show Game of Thrones. He performed as a lead actor in the subsequent series Frontier and See. Heard also continues to have investments in the film industry and has garnered roles in the independent movies Her Smell and Gully. Aquaman was one of the highest-grossing films in 2018, and a sequel was originally planned.

Brie Larson | Captain Marvel

Some actors do their best to execute stunts, while others accept their limitations. While Brie Larson knew that she could not do the fighting scenes in the superhero film Captain Marvel, she took her appreciation of her stunt doubles to the highest degree. She brought them on stage as she accepted the Best Fight award at the MTV Movie & Awards in 2019, hailing Renae Moneymaker and Joanna Bennett as “the living embodiment of Captain Marvel.”

Larson became a household name for her performance in the independent drama Short Term 12. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the 2015 drama film Room. The 31-year-old star launched her directorial career in 2017 with the independent film Unicorn Store and worked as a producer of the award-winning virtual reality TV show The Messy Truth VR Experience.

Brad Pitt | Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

Fans and critics alike know actor Brad Pitt does not do action scenes in his recent movies. While he’s still in tip-top shape despite being 57 years old, it’s still safe if someone else does the work for him. In the 2019 movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Pitt’s body double could pass as him. He wore a similar yellow shirt and aviator glasses. As seen in the photo, the stuntman stands beside the lead actor while he has a chat with Margaret Qualley, probably waiting for the director’s instructions.

Pitt remains one of Hollywood’s most bankable actors. He continues to make waves in the industry and has upcoming films. He will star in Babylon alongside actress Emma Stone. With a net worth of $300 million, the actor probably has a financial advisor to keep him in the loop.

Reese Witherspoon | Big Little Lies

Gone are the days that Reese Witherspoon used to work as an actress. She’s now more than that. She has ventured into business and production, working on one of her recent shows, Big Little Lies. In the drama series, she had to hire Marilee Lessley again, her stunt double, who has worked alongside her for years. In an Instagram post, the award-winning star shared a video with Lessley and introduced her to her fans.

Witherspoon garnered acclaim for her role as an attorney in Legally Blonde. She later invested in a production company called Type A Films, which later merged with Hello Sunshine, a media firm she also co-founded 16 years later. Hello Sunshine aims to produce female-led films and television series, including her own projects. In 2011, the actress married talent agent Jim Toth, with whom she has one child.

Jennifer Lopez | Shades of Blue

Jennifer Lopez’s stand-in looks a tad older than her but makes up for it with her similar curly hair, body structure, and wardrobe— close enough for her to fill in during quick action scenes. As shown in this picture, her stunt double enjoys her time with the Hollywood actress, and they’re probably planning out their next scene while filming the police series Shades of Blue in 2017.

Lopez has been hailed as a “triple threat entertainer,” meaning she can do multiple forms of arts that include music, drama, and dance. She has also landed the lists of the highest-paid Latin actresses in the world and the world’s 100 most influential people. Her other investments include fragrances, beauty and clothing lines, a charitable foundation, and a production company. The actress is now engaged to be married to former baseball player Alex Rodriguez.

Sutton Foster | Younger

First of all, we think there can’t be another woman out there as charming as Sutton Foster. We have to give the casting directors and production staff credit for finding her stunt double, who almost looks like her. Although their height differences are quite noticeable, at least the stand-in can do so much for the comedy-drama series Younger. Both of them look busy here, as they are planning their bike scene and sharing ideas on the matter.

Foster gained widespread recognition for her work on Broadway. She garnered two Tony Awards for Best Performance in a Musical, among many other accomplishments. The Drowsy Chaperone, Little Women, Shrek the Musical, Young Frankenstein, and Violet are some of her Broadway works. In 2019, she was given an honorary doctorate of music by Boston Conservatory at Berklee. She also previously received an honorary doctorate from Ball State University.

Tilda Swinton| Okja

If Tilda Swinton portrays one half of a twin in any project, we suggest her Okja stunt double be the other twin since they look like a mirror image of each other. In this photo, we can see the close resemblance that they had on the set of Okja in July 2016. Okja is an action-adventure film that depicts the story of a young girl who brings up a genetically modified pig.

Swinton began performing on stage while earning her degree at the University of Cambridge. She entered the Royal Shakespeare Company in the mid-80s and went on to star in several films directed by Derek Jarman. Swinton is most notable for her role as the White Witch in the film adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia. Just recently, she received the prestigious British Film Institute Fellowship, a well-deserved title for an actress of her caliber.

Will Smith | Collateral Beauty

Stuntmen’s features may not be as similar as the actors they try to portray, but this one right here would suffice as Will Smith. This photograph was taken while filming Collateral Beauty in 2016. As we can see, the two were wearing matching outfits and were probably preparing for a particular scene.

Smith rose to fame in the ’80s when he portrayed the lead star in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He reached the pinnacle of his movie career in the 2000s when he starred in numerous blockbuster films, including The Pursuit of Happyness, Hitch, and I Am Legend. He has been married to actress Jada Koren Pinkett since 1997, and they have two kids together who also have high credit scores and good standing in the Hollywood industry. The 52-year-old actor is set to portray Richard Williams in the biographical drama titled King Richard.

Elizabeth Banks | Power Rangers

Elizabeth Banks shook off her old roles. From comedy, she branched out into thriller and action genres. In the 2017 Power Rangers film, she portrayed Rita Repulsa. She needed a stuntwoman to fill in for her in the fighting scenes to further carry out her character’s supposed villainous plans.

Aside from being an actress, Banks is also an accomplished writer, director, and producer. She served as a director and actress in the 2019 Charlie’s Angels movie but made her directorial debut in Pitch Perfect 2 in 2015. She reached fame in the late 2000s and early 2010s when she starred in Definitely Maybe, Pitch Perfect, The Hunger Games, and Lego Movie franchises. Did you know she graduated magna cum laude with a degree in communications from the University of Pennsylvania? Yes, she’s brilliant, and it’s no wonder she excels in her career.

Liam Neeson | Taken

It’s tough enough to deal with Liam Neeson’s character in Taken, let alone another one who is the spitting image of him. We’re not sure which one is Neeson in this photo, though, as they have the same facial features, hair, and body structure. Well, it’s highly likely for the stand-in to be Neeson’s stuntman in his other movies, as they also have the chemistry working alongside each other in all three installments of Taken.

Neeson continues to bring electricity on the silver screens since he has film projects almost every year. The 1990s was his rise to prominence, and since then, his roles have ranged from a variety of movie genres. Thanks to his performances in Schindler’s List, Les Misérables, and Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, he is now one of the best film actors in modern Hollywood.

John Travolta | Life on the Line

Life on the Line is a movie that will thrill you with excitement and pull on your heartstrings at the same time. The film revolves around the character of Beau, who is played by legendary performer and actor John Travolta. Beau has a niece who goes around with him as he and the rest of his group work on the electricity grid. They are the people in the city who have to go through different challenges that will make the citizens of their locality safe and sound.

This picture was taken on the set where John is seen with his stunt double back when they were still filming in October 2014. They both sport the same outfit and are both beaming with their identical Beau beards. The resemblance is uncanny! No one even knew that John wasn’t he one doing all the amazing stunts in the film.

Ashley Benson | Pixels

The movie Pixels is about aliens misreading video game signals from Earth. They think that these video games are launching an attack on them, so they decide to make the first strike through the world of video games as well.
Actress Ashley Benson is one of the cast members of the movie and is playing the character of Lady Lisa. This photo is taken from the set of the movie where she and her stunt double are playing around with their props.

They look almost identical and almost look like twins jumping around with their swords. This photo was taken in August of 2014. The production crew really made the necessary investments in order to make sure their film was the best. Benson looked absolutely stunning, and her stunt double made her look even better and more graceful in the scenes!

Ryan Gosling | The Nice Guy

Ryan Gosling played Holland March in the movie The Nice Guy. As Holland, he is an investigator who is on the side of the good guys. He meets Jackson Healy who is played by Russell Crowe. He isn’t like the usual investigator you usually get. Let’s just say he makes sure personal loans are paid in whatever way possible. The two work together in solving the crime of a celebrity who died in an accident.

In this photo, Reynolds is seen with his stunt double in the movie. Taken in December 2014 on their Atlanta set, the two look identical in their matching outfits. Wearing blue shirts and brown suits, you wouldn’t know which is which when you are watching the film. As long as their backs are to the screen, the stunt double is perfectly like Reynolds given the proper angle.

Cameron Diaz | Knight and Day

The movie Knight and Day revolves around June Havens’ character, played by movie star Cameron Diaz. June hops on a plane and flies to Boston to attend her sister’s wedding. There she meets a man named Roy Miller, and since then, her life has changed. The dashing Roy dragged her into a fast-paced life of car chases and scary fights.

Cameron has a lot of very physical scenes in the movie, so she and her stunt double really had to work with each other. In this photo, fans see the duo on their set in Seville, Spain. They filmed the movie in December 2009, and it looks like they really are having fun with each other. With a high-profile actress like Cameron on set, staff should really install a good home security system to ensure the star’s utmost safety from the pesky paparazzi.

Donnie Wahlberg | Blue Bloods

Blue Bloods revolves around the different characters in NYPD. Specifically, the first family of the department, the Raegans, are the stars of the show. Frank, Henry, and Danny, the show’s detectives, go around New York, solving different cases. The story follows not only their escapades in law enforcement but also the drama in their family. When an entire family operates in the same industry, some juicy things are bound to happen.

Donnie Wahlberg plays Danny Reagan in Blue Bloods. In this photo, we see him with his stunt double in matching clothes. Since he has to do a lot of scenes that require a lot of physical activity, the double is there to help him out. It’s a good thing that they both have health insurance to cover any emergency treatment. Of course, we don’t want that to happen, but it’s a good thing they come prepared.

Anna Kendrick | Cake

The movie Cake features a support group that talks about chronic pain. In the story, the lead is a character named Claire Bennett who gets attracted to a woman named Nina’s tragic case. Nina is another member of the support group played by Anna Kendrick. Throughout the story, Claire and Nina’s husband form a special bond, which eventually spirals into a slew of unprecedented challenges.

In this picture, Anna Kendrick hangs with her stunt double while filming the movie. They both sport dark locks and pose as they wear matching dresses. They shot Cake in May of 2014. The production really put in the necessary amount of investment money for the movie and the aesthetics it needed to look great. Showrunners even doubled their efforts to cast Anna’s stunt double, seeing that she’s almost identical to the actress. We definitely recommend everyone to watch this film.

Andrew Garfield | The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Our red and blue-clad friend is someone very familiar to anyone. We all know that Spiderman is a superhero, and just like any hero movie, a lot of fight scenes, very physical movements, and even gestures that are not quite human get featured. For that very reason, producers had to cast not one but two stunts double to help the English actor perform all the action-packed scenes in The Amazing Spiderman: 2, filmed in June of 2013 in New York.

If you’ve seen the movie already, you’d probably agree that the two other guys made Spidey even more interesting!
In this movie’s storyline, Peter Parker had an identity crisis and had to find the perfect balance between his superhero side and his normal side. When he has to face Harry Osborn, his old friend, he had to make some tough decisions that could either threaten his home security or his whole city’s security.

Reese Witherspoon | Don’t Mess With Texas

If you didn’t already know, Don’t Mess with Texas was soon changed to Hot Pursuit. Showrunner shot the film in June 2014, featuring the gorgeous lead actress Reese Witherspoon and her stunt double Marny Eng. This duo got a lot of attention thanks to their uncanny resemblance to one another. We all know now that every time Reese has to do something very physical on-screen, it’s safe to say that it’s actually Marny. Their resemblance surely earns them both quite a lot of credit.

The movie’s story followed the life of Rose Cooper, a cop who had to redeem herself from former mistakes on the job. She became affiliated with Daniela Riva, a widow of a syndicate who she was assigned to protect. The two form a bond and run away from different groups who wanted them down. Rose turns into a fugitive herself.

Lena Dunham | Girls

The TV show Girls follows the escapades of four girls in their twenties. Hannah is a writer, Marnie is an assistant at an art gallery, and the cousins Shoshanna and Jessa live together. They go through different adventures and dramatic and comedic scenes throughout the show.
In this photo, we can see Lena Dunham with her stunt double, Dakota.

They even sport the same printed tangerine jackets on top of striped sweaters. The photograph was taken in May 2014 while shooting some of the show’s scenes. Lena played Hannah Horvath in a total of 62 episodes during the show’s whole run, and since she’s one of the main characters, she surely got a huge fan base and a lot of investment money from her role. Even Dakota must have gotten a considerable paycheck as well. Not everyone could be that lucky.

The Rock | Pain and Gain

The Rock, also known as Dwayne Johnson, is one of Pain and Gain’s lead actors. In this picture, The Rock is posing with his stunt double taken in April of 2012 during the movie’s filming. It’s a bit surprising for some that Dwayne himself needs a stunt double, but even this celebrity needs something helping hand.  We’re pretty sure, though, they have health insurance companies to cover him and his stunt double to make sure they’re safe.

As for the story’s plot, you’d be surprised to know that it actually revolves around real-life events. The Rock plays Paul Doyle, a bodybuilder and an ex-convict. Following Daniel Lugo’s story, played by Mark Wahlberg and another bodybuilder named Adrian Doorbal, the three men embark on an adventure to pursue money. Their elaborate scheme goes wrong in the middle, forcing them to make some hard decisions.

Tom Cruise | Knight and Day

As we have mentioned earlier, Knight and Day followed the story of June Havens, played by Cameron Diaz. She was just going to go to her sister’s wedding when she rode a plane to Boston and got caught up with a man named Roy Miller, played by the one and only Tom Cruise. The two go off on an action-packed adventure filled with heavy chasing and people who mean business.

Since this movie overflows with impressive stunts, Tom Cruise needed to hire a number 2 or someone to do his more complex stunts. Here’s a snap of the two of them together on the film’s set back in September 2009. Shot in Boston, this photo really shows that these two might have had the best time of their lives. We bet his stunt double was more than happy to earn stunt credits for someone as huge as Tom Cruise.

Tom Hardy | Legend

Legend is a film that chronicles a true story involving one of the most popular gangsters in London, Reggie, and Ronnie Kray. The twins are featured as they journey through the world of crime and climb up the infamous industry ladder. Ronnie wanted to take the investment money through crime, but Reggie wanted to do it the right way as he was swooned by a girl named Frances Shea, eventually making things harder for both of them.

Obviously, the story is pretty physical thanks to the countless action-packed scenes, so it’s not surprising that the actors would need body doubles to help them shoot their daring stunts. Tom Hardy, who plays Reggie, has his own partner for the stunts. In this photo taken during the London filming in July 2014, we can see that Hardy’s stunt double is just as handsome as the actor himself.

Dakota Johnson & Penn Badgley | Cymbeline

The stars of the Shakespeare-inspired film Cymbeline Dakota Johnson and Penn Badgley posted a picture with their stunt doubles on the set. They were filming a persecution scene that involved big bikes in Brooklyn when Dakota and Penn were both replaced by stunt doubles, who were both men. That information might surprise some of you, but Hollywood does employ quite a lot of male stunt performers to stand in for female actresses. It’s just one of the many industry tricks that not a lot of people are aware of.

The movie features Cymbeline, the leader of a motorcycle gang and the head of his family. For most of the film, we see Cymbeline’s enemies trying to seduce Imogen, his daughter, to take her from her family. Cymbeline then attempts to take revenge on his rivals. The movie got a lot of credit for being innovative and modern despite its take on a classic. It got mixed feedback, though, as some did not get the Shakespearean taste they were looking for.

Jennifer Aniston & Jason Sudeikis |We’re The Millers

We’re the Millers talks about David Clark, a robbed dealer who had to go to Mexico to see his boss, explain what happened, and get his next batch of deliverables. Because the task was a little too risky for him, he asked Rose O’Reilly, a dancer who was also in dire need of cash, and two other teens to help him cross the border by pretending to be a family going on a vacation.

The stars of the show, Jason Sudeikis, who played David, and Jennifer Aniston, who played Rose, are seen here with their stunt doubles. One of them was even half-bare during the filming. Photographer shot the picture in August 2012 in the middle of filming for the scenes. Despite the degree of maturity of the movie’s themes, the stars surely had a grand time doing the film.

Pierce Brosnan & Salma Hayek | How To Make Love Like An Englishman

The movie How to Make Love Like an Englishman is a romantic comedy that featured Pierce Brosnan as its lead, Jessica Alba and Salma Hayek. In the film, we hear Pierce’s voice dramatically saying that his life changed a lot from having a wife, a child, and a great view to everything going “pear-shaped.” The movie is something that a lot of viewers gave credit for being just hilarious, so you’ll surely have a good time when you watch it too.

During the film’s production, photographers snapped this picture of Pierce and Salma Hayek’s incredible stunt double. They look very similar, and though she will be the one making the hardcore moves, audiences wouldn’t be able to know the difference. The magic of Hollywood cinematography is highly evident in this film, so if you want to check it out, we suggest you do it ASAP!

Gerard Butler | Machine Gun Preacher

It’s hard to tell which is more badass, Gerard Butler or his stunt double in the 2011 film Machine Gun Preacher. Gerard Butler was constantly on the set of Machine Gun Preacher, located in Detroit, Michigan. A few on-set photos of the film show Gerard Butler was collaborating with his stunt double. Both sport some stylish mullet and beard while testing out a pretty gnarly motorcycle bike.

Gerard Butler is no stranger to action movies as most of his acting credits have been from the action-thriller genre. Filming this film must’ve been a walk in the park, and we’re confident that he had no problem collaborating with his stunt double. The 2011 film Machine Gun Preacher was a fact-based drama where Butler portrayed “Sam Childers,” an outlaw who became the hero and saved desperate children in Southern Sudan.

Mila Kunis | The Angriest Man In Brooklyn

Both actress Mila Kunis and Kachina Dechert, her stunt double, had to lace their sneakers for a challenging running scene in Dumbo, Brooklyn. The challenging running scene was part of the 2014 film The Angriest Man In Brooklyn. Everyone knows Mila Kunis has a pretty petite and fit body, so we’re wondering why the director needed a stunt double to help her film that rough running scene. The directors must’ve thought that a tired Mila Kunis would drastically affect her acting performance.

The Angriest Man In Brooklyn featured a star-studded cast led by Mila Kunis and other well-known actors like Peter Dinklage, James Earl Jones, and Melissa Leo. It was also one of Robin Williams’ last acting credits before his untimely passing in 2014. Without a doubt, it’s a comedy-drama film that will have you laughing and shedding a tear at the same time.

Bruce Willis | Red 2

Bruce Willis is an incredibly successful actor known for starring in various action films like the Die Hard Franchise, Pulp Fiction, and many more. Willis is certainly not a stranger to having stunt doubles, as most of his acting credits require him to portray a tough character that constantly does daredevil stunts. He’s spotted together with his stunt double in the photo while working on a motorcycle scene on Red 2.

This motorcycle scene took place in Paris’s streets, and might we add, Bruce and his stunt double look eerily the same! They could easily pass as twins as it’s hard to tell the two apart from their identical shaved heads. Red 2 was known as an action-comedy film that had tons of explosions and daredevil stunts. We’re wondering if Bruce had to tip his stunt double extra for doing the dirty work for him in those challenging and rough stunts!

Critics say that Depp played the role of a native American masterfully, and we’d have to agree with those comments!

“Tonto” was a Native American character in the new Disney rendition of The Lone Ranger. Interestingly, there were two Tontos in the movie. The other Tonto was Depp’s stunt double, and the double had the entire outfit on, with face paint included! We couldn’t even really tell if Johnny Depp was, in fact, the one walking between different train carts in the movie. His stunt double definitely deserves to be commended for a job well done!

One of her critically acclaimed acting credits is her masterful portrayal of “Clary Fray” in the 2013 film Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. Lily also reprised her role in the succeeding Mortal Instruments movies.

While filming for the fantasy film, Lily Collins had a stunt double following her around to take her place in challenging stunts. We’re not saying that Lily isn’t capable of doing stunts herself, but we’re confident that the producers would rather have Lily’s safety in check at all times. She’s spotted alongside her stunt double in the photo while wearing the same hair color and clothing. We have to say, the two look eerily the same, and we couldn’t tell who is who at first glance of the picture.

As it is an action movie, it was essential for Taylor Lautner to seek the help of a stunt double. In the photo, we can see him playfully kicking himself, or rather, another version of himself. Lautner must have a tight bond with his stunt double, which is incredibly essential to become more connected and in sync with their character’s portrayal. Now that’s what you call dedication!

Speaking of her latest Hallmark television film, it feels like we’re having a double vision when we saw Candace Cameron Bure pose alongside her stunt double in the movie. In the photo, it’s definitely “Triple Threat Monday” as Kemper poses alongside her two doubles which all look eerily the same!

Halle Berry | John Wick: Chapter 3

Halle Berry has made her efforts to masterfully portray a role for the action flick John Wick: Chapter 3. The actress worked extra hard to achieve an incredibly lean body figure, and Halle Berry is as athletic and spry as ever! Regardless of how fit she got for the role, the producers and directors still felt that Halle needed a stunt double to ensure her safety. In turn, they sought the services of well-known stunt double Anisha Gibbs.

Halle Berry and her stunt double, Anisha Gibbs, have reportedly been training and working out together. Gibbs says that Halle Berry is all business when it comes to working out and doesn’t goof around. In an interview with PEOPLE in May 2019, Gibbs credits Halle’s work ethic and dedication to masterfully portraying a particular role. Jaimie already had experience starring in an action flick before she landed her MCU gig. Between 2015 until 2020, Jaimie starred in the NBC action series Blindspot.

It’s reasonable to expect that Jaimie Alexander needed the help of a stunt double for her action stunts in Blindspot. Interestingly, Jaimie and the show producers were able to find a highly capable stunt double for the job. Jaimie’s stunt double for the entire duration of Blindspot was Heidi Germaine Schanppauf. Heidi is incredibly capable as she has experience in martial arts and fight-choreography. Jaimie also shed light on their personal relationship claiming that she and Heidi were great friends. We’re wondering if Heidi will be following Jaimie around for her future acting credits.

Meanwhile, her comedy sketch series on Comedy Central, Inside Amy Schumer, transformed her into an established comedian and actress. This show lasted for more than three years, and it gave her a prestigious Peabody Award and an Emmy Award out of five nominations.

Although Schumer alone is a magnificent actress, she still needed help from time to time. In her hit film I Feel Pretty, Amy called Meredith Richardson to be her stunt double for the second time, as she captioned her Instagram post. The movie revolved around Schumer’s character, Renee Bennett, who lacked self-esteem and was insecure about her appearance. One day, she hit her head, and her self-confidence went through the roof. The film did pretty well in the box office, grossing more than $91 million against its $32 million production budget.

Jared Padalecki | Supernatural

Jared Padalecki was born in San Antonio, Texas, on July 19, 1982. He had a humble start in show business. Later on, however, Jared won the Claim to Fame Contest by Fox Channel and subsequently had an appearance in Teen Choice Awards, where he met a casting agent. He was able to break into the industry, but his early roles were significantly minor, and he even appeared in Cheaper by the Dozen with no acting credit. However, his persistence led him to be part of the longest-running sci-fi series in North America, Supernatural.

Padalecki portrayed the role of Sam Winchester. Together with his brother Dean, portrayed by Jensen Ackles, they roam around the United States to hunt paranormal predators. They also chased supernatural beings and fought angels and demons. The fight scenes and portrayal of Padalecki may seem smooth and well-coordinated thanks to his stunt double, Mike Carpenter. Supernatural started airing in 2005 and had its finale last year. It ran for 15 seasons in 15 years.

Tom Hardy | Mad Max: Fury Road

A handful of actors could act on stage, television, and stage ― one of them is Tom Hardy. After attending Drama Centre London, he has landed a long list of projects. A few of the films he starred in are Venom, The Revenant, and Mad Max: Fury Road. Critics commended his performance in the latter, plus the movie was a box-office hit.

Mad Max: Fury Road is a George Miller directed-film released in 2015. It revolved around Max Rockatansky, initially imprisoned by Immortan Joe, Hugh Keays-Byrne character, but eventually escaped. Since it was an action-packed film ― were running, jumping, and martial arts skills are non-negotiable ― Tom Hardy’s character was required to have a stunt double. Because of that, casting directors had to call in Jacob Tomuri for him to make it through the shooting with little to no injury at all. Although Hardy probably has life insurance, it’s still the best move for the production to hire Tomuri for assurance.

Adrianne Palicki | Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

Adrianne Palicki is an American actress from Toledo, Ohio, who appeared in several films like G.I. Joe: Retaliation and John Wick. However, just like other famous actresses in their early years in acting, Palicki also started landing supporting roles in various films and TV series. She appeared in Smallville as Kara / Lindsay Harrison and landed a one-shot stint in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as Miranda, both in 2004. She also had multiple series appearances that were considered unsold pilots: Nadia in Aquaman in 2006, and the surprising role of Diana Prince, a.k.a Wonder Woman in 2011.

Although she experienced such a thing, she was able to land a regular role in NBC’s Friday Night Lights and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, where she portrayed the role of Barbara ‘Bobbi’ Morse. In the latter series, Palicki needed a stunt double to perform most of the complex moves. Luckily, they found Alicia Vela-Bailey, who also did the same credit for Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Beckinsale from their respective projects.

Shailene Woodley | Divergent

She made her audiences cry a river with her film The Fault In Our Stars, alongside Ansel Elgort, while she encouraged everyone to fight for what is upright in The Divergent Series, she is Shailene Woodley. Before snatching these roles, Woodley was just a simple girl in Simi Valley, California, then started modeling at four. She also attended Anthony Meindi’s acting classes, which clearly paid off.

During her time shooting Divergent, Shailene had to use a stunt double because Beatrice Prior, her character, had a lot of action-packed scenes. The film’s execs decided to do so to effectively portray the role, which required a lot of sprinting, fight scenes, and other physical demands. Alicia Vela-Bailey stepped in for Woodley. Vela-Bailey is a celebrity double who did the same for Charlize Theron and Gal Gadot for Wonder Woman. She has been doing this significantly dangerous work as if she has a mortgage loan and endless bills she desperately needed to pay.

Kate Mara | The Martian

Kate Mara is an American actress who we know from her films like Brokeback Mountain, Transcendence, and The Martian. Mara was born on the 27th of February 1983 in Bedford, New York. Her first acting role was for Law and Order in 1997. Since then, she started landing roles in multiple series with the same genre, or if not, it’s comedy.

In the film The Martian, the actress’ character had to wear an astronaut suit and flew to Mars. Her performance was exceptional. However, there were scenes that she didn’t do by herself because the degree of complexity was high and too risky. In order to shoot these scenes with nothing to worry about, the production sought a stunt double for her. Fortunately, they found Casey Michaels, who has been an expert in that field. Among the projects, she had to step in as a stunt double were Game of Thrones and Into the Woods for Anna Kendrick.

Anna Kendrick | Into the Woods

Of course, we’re going to miss her when Anna Kendrick’s gone from the big screen or on our TV screens. This Portland-grown actress became the mass’ favorite after she led the Pitch Perfect franchise. However, did you know that her acting career started on Broadway before she landed film roles? Yes, Kendrick’s first starring role was in the musical High Society in 1998.

Since then, Kendrick has accumulated a long list of film credits. Aside from appearing in Twilight Series, she also starred in the fantasy musical film, Into The Woods, where she played Cinderella, wearing a long dress and the iconic glass slippers. Anna indeed gave justice to the character, but she didn’t do it alone. She had Casey Michaels as her stunt double. In a photo posted by People, Kendrick and Michaels posed for a picture wearing the same dress while smiling for the cam.

Christian Slater | The Forgotten

The Forgotten is an ABC crime drama TV series that aired from September 22, 2009, to July 3, 2010. Christian Slater led the series, with Michelle Borth, Anthony Carrigan, and Rochelle Aytes, as part of the cast. Slater’s character Alex Donovan is a former cop whose daughter was kidnapped and was missing for two years. As a father, Donovan did not stop searching and did everything to find his beloved child, even if he had to pull some drastic measures.

In the action-packed series, Slater had a stunt double, Marc Schaffer, to film some scenes that might jeopardize Christian’s capabilities to finish the 17-episode series. Schaffer is an established stunt performer. He had credits for working in two Pirates of the Caribbean movies: At World’s End and The Curse of the Black Pearl. Schaffer’s resume is obviously impressive, that we wouldn’t be surprised if he had stood in for other high-profile celebrities as well.

Jennifer Garner | Peppermint

The degree of versatility that Jennifer Garner has is beyond outstanding. She did not let herself get cast in one genre alone but hopped from one genre to another. From the action movie Elektra, romantic comedy film 13 Going On 30 to the drama film Miracles from Heaven. However, the former Pearl Harbor star was humble enough to admit that she did not do it alone and asked for help.

In an interview with Bustle, Garner sat with her long-time stunt double, turned close friend, Shanna Duggins, and frankly admitted that there were “crazy” scenes in her film Peppermint where she asked Duggins to double her. The two met in the second episode of Alias, and they have built an inseparable bond since then. Duggins has also worked with several big stars in the industry, including Anne Hathaway and Cameron Diaz.

Julie Newmar | Batman (1966)

Julie Newmar is an American triple threat. She could sing, dance, and act. Guess what? She is also the inventor of lingerie. Newmar was born in Los Angeles, California, on August 16, 1933. She was married to J. Holt Smith, a lawyer, but called it quits after seven years together. She is now 87 years old, and among her notable projects is The-Marriage-Go-Round in Broadway, where she won a Tony Award, and as Catwoman in the TV series Batman, which aired from 1966 to 1967.

Portraying Catwoman demands a lot of physical activities, wall climbing, sprinting, etc. On the other hand, Newmar once played the role for two seasons in the Adam West-leading series Batman. However, Julie did not do every scene alone. In a gallery from Huffpost, Julie Newmar with Marilyn Watson, her stunt double, posed for the camera, both stunning while wearing their catsuit.

Sean Connery | Goldfinger

Sean Connery was a Scottish actor who became famous after playing the immortal role of James Bond. Connery’s acting career started from scratch. He initially landed small roles in TV and theatre but had his breakthrough in Dr. No, the first James Bond film series. Since then, his career has catapulted to a certain degree that many actors would love to achieve.

In the third installment of the James Bond series, entitled Goldfinger, Connery received a stunt double, Alf Joint. We all know that portraying 007 requires physical training, martial arts skills, and performing stunts that will put the audiences on the edges of their seats. The filming went smoothly, and the movie was a box-office hit, grossing more than $124 million worldwide against its $3 million production budget. Unfortunately, Connery passed away late last year, but his legacy continues.

The Cast Of Breaking Bad | Breaking Bad

Money will come for movies and TV series if it has effective actors and outstanding screenplay, also don’t forget the impressive stunts and jaw-dropping effects. Well, Breaking Bad has them all. Not to mention, the show garnered 16 Primetime Emmy Awards, two Peabody Awards, and a Guinness World Record for being the most critically acclaimed show in history. The hit crime television drama was aired from January 2008 to September 2013 on AMC, with five seasons and 62 episodes.

Like many other series, Breaking Bad also used stunt performers, although the degree of camera tricks and editing might show that they did not. A listicle from TheThings includes a photo of the three actors: Aaron Paul, Jonathan Banks, and Bryan Cranston, with their respective stunt doubles. Thanks to them, they do not just keep their actors safe from possible danger on set, but they also improve the show’s quality.

Matt Smith | Dr. Who

Matt Smith is an English actor from Northampton, England. He is known as the eleventh actor who portrayed The Doctor in Doctor Who on BBC. He replaced David Tennant, who had the credit for almost five years, and started appearing in the series in January 2009.
Smith’s character demanded numerous stunts to perform. Out of passion, he did most of it, including the scene where he dangled from the TARDIS 90-feet from the ground and a particular scene where he needed to dive into the freezing waters of the Baltic Sea.

However, showrunners advised the actor to use a stunt double, but he still insisted on doing it. Consequently, the next shot he did, put him in a situation where he needed to call the medic. There are no available photos or information about his stunt performer, but whoever that was, his looks might be closer to Matt.

James Gandolfini | The Sopranos

James Gandolfini was an American actor who was born in Westwood, New Jersey, in the 1960s. He was known for his portrayal of Tony Soprano in the hit television series, The Sopranos, which aired on HBO from January 10, 1999, to June 10, 2007. The series contributed three Emmy Awards, one Golden Globes, and three Screen Actors Guild Awards to his name. Gandolfini’s performance is widely considered one of the most outstanding performances in the history of television.

Although he was an exceptional actor alone, Gandolfini still asked for a hand from time to time. One of the persons who helped him was Frank Ferrara, who stepped in as a stunt double for James. Ferrara has had credits for working with the films Sherlock Holmes and The Bourne Ultimatum. Imagine the brilliant acting of Gandolfini incorporated with the stunts of Ferrara ― perfection.

Annie Wersching | Partners

Annie Wersching has been around the industry since 2001 but has yet to make a breakthrough to mainstream pop culture. Like any actor in Hollywood, her career is filled with opportunities that could’ve been. An example of which is her pilot drama series, Partners that would’ve aired on ABC. Based on the fact that she has Danielle Litak as her stunt double, this series might’ve been action-packed with endearing drama.

Currently, Annie is widely known for her two-season appearance on the hit show 24. She has a degree in musical theatre and had her humble beginnings in theatres such as the Marriott Lincolnshire, Victory Gardens, and the Utah Shakespearean Festival. Annie made her first TV appearance on the 2001 series, Star Trek: Enterprise. Subsequently, she guest-starred on Charmed, Supernatural, Cold Case, and Killer Instinct. Moreover, after her short success on 24, she landed more roles on shows such as Hawaii Five-O, Castle, Blue Blood, Dallas, and The Vampire Diaries.

Lucy Lawless | Xena Warrior Princess

Lucy Lawless rose to fame portrayal of Xena on the series Xena Warrior Princess. The character Xena first appeared in the series Hercules: The Legendary Warriors. She quickly became a fan favorite, and the producers saw it fit to make a spin-off show based on her adventures. The show would soon prove to be one of the production’s best investments as it quickly grew a cult following.  Xena’s story follows her path to redemption from her history of villainy towards life in pursuit of the greater good.

Xena Warrior Princess, at its very core, is an action-packed series. Like in any kind of action film, stunts play a significant role in the show’s whole aesthetics. Lucy’s stunt double on this acclaimed series is known to be Zoe Bell. Having a good background in gymnastics and Taekwon-do, Zoe was the perfect fit to perfectly display Xena’s athletic capabilities.

Tina Fey | 30 Rock

30 Rock is a comedy sitcom, written and produced by Tina Fey, initially aired in 2006. The show revolved around Tina’s experiences being the head writer of the comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live. Its commercial success earned the show critical acclaim and several accolades that include 11 Emmy Awards. Since it had a satirical set-up, the show presented absurd storylines and plots that viewers rarely expect.

Just as in any kind of Hollywood production, the actor’s safety always comes first. That is where Jill Brown, Tina’s stunt double, comes into action. The casting did Tina’s character, Liz Lemon, justice as Jill bears an uncanny resemblance to Tina with just a few adjustments. Their partnership would prove to be a success, as the casting crew would later hire her again to be Tina’s stunt double for another show, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. To Jill’s credit, she also displayed her talent as a stuntswoman on blockbuster films such as The Bourne Legacy, Spider-Man 2, and The Dark knight Rises.

Nick Frost | Into the Badlands

Into the Badlands is a sci-fi, post-apocalyptic, and martial arts genre, perfectly meshed into one. The story takes place five hundred years into the future, in a lawless society where technology was a thing of the past. The series follows a warrior’s journey, along with a boy, as they travel through the territory known as the Badlands. In an environment where society reverted back to the survival of the fittest, the inhabitants rely on brute strength and melee weapons.

Given the show’s premise, it will come as a pleasant surprise to many that one of the main characters of the show is the comedian, Nick Frost. To his credit, his performance in this show presents a new chapter in his acting career, starring in a martial-arts production. Though he is not a new-comer in the action genre, it is quite a treat to see the comedian in a wuxia type of action genre. For this role, Tony Condren played Nick’s stunt double.

Lou Ferrigno | Pumping Iron

Lou Ferrigno is truly one of Hollywood’s treasures. In a time where CGI was not yet a thing, it takes a certain type of physic and stature to portray outrageous hulking characters. Lou is one of the few actors to effectively achieve this feat, and when talking about stunt doubles, it would be pretty difficult to fill in the shoes for Lou in shooting stunts. The man to do it was Manny Perry.  He successfully played the part of Lou In the movie, Pumping Iron. The film was about the golden age of bodybuilding during the 1970s, and he starred in the film alongside Arnold Schwarzenneger.

To Manny’s credit, he was a successful bodybuilder before entering the field of stunts. He effectively became Lou’s stunt double for his films, which included The Incredible Hulk franchise. After his work with Lou, he also worked on the shows, The X-Files, Macgyver, and From Dusk Till Dawn.

Kj Apa | Riverdale

With the growing trend of comic book adaptation to film in Hollywood today, it is a welcoming surprise to know that the classic Archie Comics has its own TV adaptation. Riverdale initially aired in 2017, and it revolved around the character Archie Andrews, played by Kj Apa, as he explores the secrets of the small town of Riverdale. Just like in the comics, the show also features the characters Veronica, Jughead, and Betty Cooper, alongside Archie.

In the world of stunts, the production company not only considers the looks of the stuntman but also their physical capabilities. As was the case in enlisting Eric Bauer in doubling for Kj. To his credit, even though Eric does not strongly resemble Kj, he had a wrestling background needed to effectively shoot one of the episodes of Riverdale. Plus, a good director always has an endless arsenal of camera tricks to make Eric perfectly look the part.793

Gates McFadden | Star Trek: The Next Generation

Star Trek: The Next Generation or TNG is the third series in the Star Trek franchise. It initially aired in 1987, had 178 episodes, and ended in 1994 after seven seasons. Needless to say, TNG fostered a cult following and enjoyed its own degree of commercial success. Gates McFadden, playing the part of Dr. Beverly Crusher, is one of the main characters of the series. Gates perfectly portrayed Dr. Crusher as a strong, empowered woman journeying on through an action-packed space adventure.

Patricia Stallman acted as Gates’ stunt double in the TNG series. She is no stranger to the sci-fi genre and to the Star Trek franchise as her credentials include Star Trek Generations, Voyager, and Deep Space Nine. Moreover, Patricia is also famous in the sci-fi scene for her portrayal of Lyta Alexander on the TV show Babylon 5.

Adam Sandler | Uncut Gems

Adam Sandler rose to prominence during the tail end of the 1990s. He stood out in the comedy scene with his goofy personality that he effectively brings out in his brand of humour. His comedy movies include Happy Gilmore, Waterboy, 50 First Dates, and Billy Madison, among others. What surprises everyone about Adam is his capability to portray dramatic roles that are a far cry from his typical silly characters.

An example of this is his award-winning portrayal of Howard Ratner in the movie Uncut Gem, which follows the story of Howard, a gambling addict, as he struggles to pay his financial debts. Although the movie is filled with dramatic moments, it is a crime thriller at its core. This is where the need for a good stunt double comes into action. The stuntman, to his credit, is a perfect look-alike of Adam and does a splendid job and surely elevated Adam’s overall performance.

Zac Efron | Baywatch

Baywatch was an iconic TV series that aired for more than a decade. It’s an action drama that revolves around a group of lifeguards and their day-to-day experiences on the beach.  In 2017, the franchise was given a facelift and was rebranded entirely.

The 2017 movie, while still revolving around a group of lifeguards, was told through the lens of comedy. It starred Zac Efron alongside Dwayne Johnson as they foil a group of smugglers’ operation around their beach. In the movie, Zac played an Olympic swimming athlete who enjoyed a degree of sports success but fell from grace and then resorted to working as a lifeguard. The character owns a sports bike which he drives around the beach and also uses it in some of the action sequences. His stunt double did a great job on this one, as you can never really tell him apart from Zac.

LL Cool J | NCIS: Los Angeles

LL Cool J has been around the limelight since the late 1980s. To his credit, he has successfully made a name for himself in the music industry with songs such as I’m Bad, I Need Love, and Go Cut Creator Go, among others. Even so, he has yet to make a breakthrough in the field of acting. His most successful work to date is in the show NCIS: Los Angeles. The show is the second series from the lucrative franchise NCIS, which is a spin-off of JAG.

LL stars as one of the series’ lead characters, Special Agent Sam Hanna. The series is pretty action-packed and oftentimes in need of professional stuntmen to be able to effectively portray its action sequences. His stunt double is of equal build and stature that their uncanny resemblance plays a big part in his performance on the series.

Richard Roundtree | Shaft’s Big Score!

Shaft’s Big Score! is a 1972 action-crime movie, which followed the story of detective John Shaft, played by Richard Roundtree, and is the second movie in the Shaft films. To its credit, the movie was highly anticipated as it doubled its production value from its predecessor. The plot begins as Shaft is contacted by an old friend seeking his help. He quickly comes to his aid but falls short as he sees his friend get killed off by a bomb planted at his house. Shaft then uncovers the mystery around his friend’s murder.

The film is sprinkled with action sequences from start to end, which highly explains the reason behind its production value. Nonetheless, these sequences, although being a fan favorite, are always taxing for actors. That is why stuntmen are always valued by actors and directors alike. With the dangerous sequences out of the way, actors can focus more on acting.

Alan Cumming | Instinct

The series Instinct is based on the novel, Murder Games by James Patterson, which was short-lived and only aired for two seasons. Its premise revolved around Dr. Dylan Reinhart, played by Alan Cumming, who is a retired CIA paramilitary officer, an author, and a professor. To the show’s credit, Dr. Reinhart is the first-ever lead character on an hour-long American drama series to be openly gay.

The story was action-packed as the main character pursues a serial killer. Fortunately for Alan, his stunt double was always there for him for every situation that called for someone who had a more dangerous field of expertise. As seen in this photo, though, there are times that the stunt double need not look exactly like the actor. Some action sequences, fortunately, require the character to wear headgears that naturally cover the facial features.

Deborah Kerr | Quo Vadis

Quo Vadis, to its credit, is a Hollywood classic. It is an adaptation of the 1896 novel of the same name by Henryk Sienkiewicz. The film’s story is set in ancient Roman, particularly during the reign of Emperor Nero. The screenplay is a perfect mix of fictional and historical events spanning only a few weeks during the final years of the emperor. It revolved around the persecution of the Christians by the Roman Empire and how Nero was the source of this atrocity.

Deborah Kerr played the part of Lygia, a devout Christian who fell in love with a Roman military commander. With a Shakespearean tragedy feel to its storyline, it’s easy to imagine how this movie became a Hollywood classic. Deborah is seen in this photo with her stunt double, and it may come as a surprise that the stuntwoman is as pretty as the actress.

Hugo Weaving | Cloud Atlas

When it comes to complex storytelling, Cloud Atlas is up there, along with the likes of Inception and Clockwork Orange. The film, directed by the Wachowski siblings, is an adaptation of the novel by David Mitchell of the same name. The story follows several characters that recur during different time periods. Though this type of concept is nothing new, especially in the sci-fi genre, it is relatively daring to transpose this type of complex storyline to the screenplay.  Nevertheless, the film received mixed reviews but earned several award nominations to its credit.

Hugo Weaving is not a stranger to the artistic direction that the Wachowski siblings bring to the table, having worked with them in the Matrix franchise. He plays Haskell Moore, Tadeusz Kesselring, Bill Smoke, Nurse Noakes, Boardman Mephi, and Old Georgie on this sci-fi epic. His stunt double in the movie is a stark look alike, especially in this photo, as they are wearing the same wig.

Marlon Brando | On the Waterfront

Marlon Brando is probably one of Hollywood’s best actors of all time. In this photo, we get to see a rare glimpse of Marlon alongside his stunt double on the set of the 1954 crime drama On the Waterfront. The premise of the film revolves around Terry Malloy, played by Marlon, as he grapples against a corrupt union boss in the docks.

The film gained commercial success and praise as it received eight Academy Awards, one of which is the award for best actor for Marlon’s performance. Moreover, the American Film Institute ranked the film as the eighth-greatest American film of all time. Interestingly, the Library of Congress deemed the movie historically, culturally, and aesthetically significant back in 1989 and was deemed worthy of preservation in the National Film Registry. Needless to say, the movie’s success should also be given credit to the unsung heroes of the production, including the stuntmen that tirelessly make prolific actors, such as Marlon, look good on the big screen.

Sarah Michelle Gellar | Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Sarah Michelle Gellar is a well-known American actress who rose to a degree of fame, thanks to her appearance as Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The series rapidly built a dedicated fan base that continued to tune in even after the show’ seven-season streak ended.
The fight scenes on Buffy the Vampire Slayer seemed to be smooth and ahead of their time, but certain scenes required a considerable amount of planning, like martial arts training and back-to-back training sessions.

She also has no problem performing Buffy’s complex battle scenes since she is a brown belt in Taekwondo, but still, they sought her stunt double, Sophia Crawford. She choreographed the action scenes and battles for the Buffy character and started working with the stunt coordinator and director Jeff Pruitt. Sophia would stage every fight for four years as the hard-hitting Slayer, making the show a worldwide phenomenon.

Chris Pratt | Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Chris Pratt is well-known for his appearances in blockbusters such as Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy. In an age where some actors take pride in performing their stunts, it’s easy to overlook how dangerous stunt work can be. In the second installment of the Marvel Comics film franchise, the actor reprises his role as Peter Quill, or also known for his alter-ego Star-Lord, has revealed that he was knocked out by a blow while attempting to perform his stunts for the film. That’s when Chris discovered stunt performers were there for a cause.

His double, Tony McFarr, grew up on Merritt Island in the Melbourne area of Florida’s Atlantic coast before becoming a stunt artist in Hollywood. His first credited role was in a single episode of Bones in 2011, and he’s since amassed an incredible stunt resume, appearing in hundreds of television shows over the last decade. He seems to have found a degree as Pratt’s stunt double after his appearance in Jurassic World that he went on to double for Pratt in Passengers and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Robert Pattinson | Twilight

Robert Pattinson’s appearance as the heartthrob vampire Edward Cullen in Twilight was a degree-defining role for him. The film was the first of five adaptations of the famous Twilight novels, and it was a phenomenal hit, instantly making Pattinson a global celebrity. However, behind the lean, toned Twilight character is a dashing stunt double that Pattinson can’t do without.

When Pattinson won his first MTV award for Best Fight, one of the first people he thanked was his double Paul Darnell. Paul then continued to perform stunts for teen heartthrobs even after the Twilight series ended with appearances in films such as Baby Driver, Jurassic World, and I Am Number Four. The shape of their bodies are strikingly similar, although they don’t appear to be identical. Still, Darnell seems to need some tips on how to channel Cullen’s natural melancholy.

Alyson Hannigan |  Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Actress Alyson Hannigan made a degree for herself in some of the most successful television and film franchises of the day, sometimes portraying socially inept but eventually lovable roles. She immediately landed the first of her many fan-favorite parts, starting with wallflower Willow Rosenberg on the iconic genre series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Willow got herself into more and more danger as the show progressed. There were a lot of stunt doubles on the set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer  as they were fighting in almost every episode of the action-packed series, and plenty of cast members came and went to be their enemies. Alyson had the chance to hang out with not only her usual stunt double but also her stunt double — as well as her vampire alter-ego and her stunt double! That must have been an odd coffee break.

Cara Delevingne | Suicide Squad

IT Girl Cara Delevingne rose to fame as a model and socialite before moving on to film roles and expanding her music career. She began a successful modeling career walking on runways for Chanel and Burberry before fitting in a princess role in Anna Karenina. The model turned actress landed her credit role as The Enchantress in Suicide Squad, a widely awaited installment in the DC Comics film universe.
Cara’s Enchantress got some support from stunt double Tara Macken during the shooting.

Tara is a gymnast and a trained dancer. Originally born in Kuwait but eventually relocated to California to pursue a career as a stuntwoman and actress.  You might think Macken looks familiar if you can see beyond the makeup. That’s because Tara is one of the few actresses in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who has played several roles, doubling actresses like Zoe Saldana and Scarlett Johanssen.

Ryan Reynolds | Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds is a prolific Canadian-American actor known for a wide range of roles, from sardonic wiseguys in movies like Van Wilder to challenging action roles in Green Lantern and Deadpool. While he used to perform most of his stunts himself for these types of characters, Ryan announced that he now uses a stunt performer—or, more precisely, stunt performers—following some severe injuries he sustained on the set of the 2013 film Safe House.

In his film, Deadpool, the man we see is not Deadpool himself, but also not Ryan. Ryan’s stunt double was stuntman Will Erichson. He has extensive Hollywood stunt investments, having starred in films, including TRON: Legacy to Wayward Pines until he made a huge splash in 2016 when he starred as Reynolds’ stunt double. Erichson and other Deadpool stunt actors Adrian Hein and Alex Kyshkovych contributed to the big-screen adaptation of our favorite replenishing degenerate. He also did performing stunts for different cast members on the set of Arrow.

Sacha Baron Cohen | The Dictator

Sacha Baron Cohen created an indelible impact with his famous personalities in the Da Ali G Show. These three characters catapulted Baron Cohen from unknown to star degree, and with the unexpected box office hit Borat, he became a big name in the acting industry. Baron Cohen proceeded to walk the tightrope portraying his role in The Dictator that he required a double for his acts.

In The Dictator, he foregoes the hidden-camera stunt comedy of Borat and Bruno in favor of a more traditional fish-out-of-water comedy. The results are consistently humorous. Baron Cohen doesn’t draw blood with his barbs as the bigoted, misogynistic, and moronic tyrant of a fictional North African republic. Thankfully, the star and his double are such endearing focal points in this hit-or-miss comedy that you forgive the boring parts even as you wonder if the actor needs to find a new joke soon.

Emma Watson | Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Emma Watson rocketed to prominence as Hermione Granger in all eight Harry Potter film adaptations. She was one of the few actresses who managed to maintain a balanced, regular life despite being one of the franchise’s most well-known and highest-paid actresses, as her meteoric rise to celebrity was nothing short of amazing. Watson joined the cast as a co-star in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone at nine, despite having no prior acting experience. Her degree of skill propelled her into international stardom with her very first film. Her portrayal of the bossy, know-it-all Hermione was flawless, so it came as no surprise when she reprised her role with Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint in later installments.

Stunt performers are not only people who perform stunts in place of actors but also look like actors. In one of the films, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, she had not one, not two, but three doubles. Isn’t it astonishing?

Natalie Portman | Black Swan

Natalie Portman’s capacity to perform vulnerable old souls mirrored her own grounded, emotionally mature personality, as well as her ability to plan her future and select roles strategically. With an Oscar-winning performance in Black Swan, Portman retained her acclaimed actress degree. Her beauty and increasing dramatic versatility made her one of the most financially successful young women on the big screen.

Portman portrayed a talented and tormented ballerina in the film, who reflects harrowing descent into madness by her impressive on-stage dancing. Little do we know, she needed a double for some of her acts. Professional ballerina Sarah Lane was asked to fill in for Portman during the shooting, which she surely had fun doing, considering the challenging circumstances. Portman had prior ballet experience, but Sarah assisted with some of the more difficult maneuvers. Despite not looking similar, this is when the power of makeup comes into action.

Carrie Fisher | Star Wars: Return of the Jedi

Carrie Fisher outgrew the shadow of notoriety as a child of Hollywood. She was best known for her appearance as Princess Leia in Star Wars, one of the biggest box office successes. She received critical acclaim and industry recognition for her investments as a screenwriter and script doctor, ultimately reprising Leia as a defiant, powerful older woman in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Princess Leia’s scenes are probably one of the most famous views in film history.  What’s fascinating is that Carrie was not the only one who worked on Return of the Jedi. In reality, Tracey Eddon, her stunt double, may have been the woman we all swoon over. Probably not, but without her, the overarching storyline would not have been feasible. Aside from their talent, Eddon and Fisher had a significant bond onset and were often hanging out in between takes.

Robin Williams | Night at the Museum:Battle of the Smithsonian

Robin McLaurin Williams is another exceptional actor in Hollywood. A true master in the comedic field, he delivered stunning dramatic performances that attracted many laudations and accolades throughout his flourishing degree. As Robin approached the early 2000s, Robin enthusiastically committed himself to explore more adventurous characters to continue his accomplishments. Williams finally could provide solid proof of his dramatic acting abilities from his role in Mork and Mindy to voicing Dennis the Dog. He has an almost four-decade career with 74 credits under his belt.

Mike Mitchell had everyone getting dizzy when he and Williams were both in character for the film Night at the Museum. He has appeared in Flubber, Jumanji, and Jakob the Liar as a stunt double for Williams. He has also played as a stunt coordinator in various X-Men films. Mitchell also possesses diverse abilities, like mixed martial arts experience and firearms training.

Jean-Claude Van Damme | Street Fighter

Jean-Claude Van Damme, a Belgian action movie star and world-renowned martial arts expert, made his Hollywood debut in classic martial arts movies. With widely lauded yet highly acclaimed blockbusters like Universal Soldier, Van Damme became an overnight sensation, broadening his fan base from war film fans to general action film fans. Various martial arts actors have tried to imitate his signature karate kick with the 360-degree jump, yet, even the best requires a double sometimes.

With his motivation and perseverance, Todd Sonofronte became Van Damme’s double on the film Sudden Death in 1994 and was his double for a slew of his movies. A veteran of the military, Todd appeared in his breakthrough film, Fist Of Legends 2: Iron Bodyguards. Following its success, he continued to appear in more films like Turbulent Skies and Mega Shark. Todd’s potential is limitless, thanks to natural abilities and physique, which earned him that Jean-Claude-like image.

Joaquin Phoenix | Joker

Joaquin Phoenix is no doubt one of the most skilled performers of his contemporaries. Young Phoenix honed his acting degree in film after film, eventually becoming a refined actor of his era. Though he has acted in various movies since his debut in 1986, his big break came with the historical epic Gladiator, which earned him worldwide recognition and acclaim. With hit films like Joker, he quickly became the industry’s top-rated star.

The Joker is a low-key character among pop culture’s prominent superheroes and supervillains, often depicted as a calculated schemer pulling strings rather than someone who gets involved in his fights. Phoenix’s spontaneous moments of letting it happen apply to battle scenes as well. While improvised moments while acting in a set are fantastic, improvising during a fight is extremely dangerous. However, thanks to his double, everything was meticulously choreographed.

Scarlett Johansson | The Avengers

Thanks to her role as a part of Marvel’s The Avengers, Scarlett Johansson has gone from an indie actress to one of the most sought-after stars on the planet. Johansson first played her iconic role Black Widow in Iron Man 2, and she ultimately realized the character in The Avengers.

Marvel films are physically and mentally demanding, particularly for a character as physical as her character. You might think Scarlett’s athletic abilities as the Black Widow are almost otherworldly. Scarlett is no newcomer to stunt work, but Heidi Moneymaker, her stunt double and one of Hollywood’s most sought-after stuntwomen, did if not all, most of the heavy lifting. Moneymaker’s name may be unknown to you, but you’ve probably seen her work if you’ve seen something in the last ten years or so. From her breakthrough role in Angel until becoming the go-to-person for Marvel Studios, Moneymaker has since amassed an incredible resume and stunt investments.

Emilia Clarke | Game of Thrones

The white-haired princess Daenerys Targaryen in the spectacularly medieval fantasy series Game of Thrones made a degree to Emilia Clarke. She developed one of the complex series’ most memorable characters showcasing talent and presence far beyond her years. While her portrayal stood out among the innumerable others in the highly multilayered saga, the actress did not execute any of her stunts herself. She had the perfect body double in Rosie Mac.

Rosie was 18 when she started working as Emilia’s body double. In an interview, she confirmed that she did not audition for the role since she had another modeling job that day. She was later summoned to the set after tweeting a photo of herself with blonde hair, much like Clarke’s character in the series. Rosie has amassed over 170K Instagram followers over the years. Given her viral success from Game of Thrones, it’s surprising she hasn’t grown in popularity. Of course, she will always be Emilia’s perfect twin.

Charlize Theron | Brandon: Flowers Crossfire

You have surely seen Charlize Theron doing a number of action-packed scenes in some of her hit movies, like Mad Max: Fury Road, Monster, and The Old Guard. She has made you admire her one way or another, but did you know she uses stunt doubles? Her moves are compelling, right, but she once needed the help of one of the most famous stunt women there is, Alicia Vela-Bailey.

She played as Charlize’s body double in the actress’s credit role in the movie Brandon: Flowers Crossfire. With the movie’s makeup artists and designers’ help, they managed to make her look like the now-45-year-old star herself. The only difference between the two is their eyes. Charlize has a set of brown eyes, while Alicia’s is blue. That’s not a huge problem though, as you surely haven’t noticed it as well.  With the right pair of contact lenses, these two are good to go and are a spitting image of each other.

Jennifer Lawrence | X-Men

We are used to seeing Jennifer Lawrence in some of the most intense action scenes in the movies, but she also has a stunt double of her own. Renae Moneymaker played the 30-year-old actress’ body double in the X-Men film Days of the Future Past and Apocalypse.
Renae revealed how it is to work with Jennifer on the set, saying they got really well. They are almost of the same age, making her a good match for the American actress.

Their good relationship started in the Hunger Games movie series that Jennifer already asked her to be her stunt double in her following movie projects, which eventually formed a close bond between the two. Jennifer even fought for Renae to be part of the team as the X-Men movie was a Canadian production. They, fortunately, didn’t need the help of any lawyers, as Jennifer only had to write a bunch of letters so that she could do the movie, as Renae didn’t have dual citizenship.

Benedict Cumberbatch | Sherlock

Benedict Cumberbatch’s body double, Will Willoughby, in the TV series Sherlock will undoubtedly stun you. Why? He’s not only good at what he does; he also looks like the 44-year-old actor, having the same face shape, skin color, and looks. People behind the scenes may haven’t had a hard time doing their work to make them look alike back then.

They also don’t have any problem when it comes to doing bold stunts, like when he was thrown off the roof to make the show’s scenes more believable. He, however, never gets the credit he deserves, according to reports—maybe just for this scene, though. Will has a long list of movie and TV series projects he has done and has been doing until today. He, too, has been the stunt double of many actors as a British Stunt Register member from the age of 18.

Kate Beckinsale | Ant-Man

Alicia Vela-Bailey has also been Kate Beckinsale’s stunt double in the movie Ant-Man, aside from Charlize Theron. With the help of a wig, a few alterations, and make-up, of course, she was instantly like a reflection of the actress. They, too, have the exact figure, so it’s not a problem either. Did you even notice that Kate used a stunt double in the movie? No, right? That’s how great Alicia was during the filming.

Alicia has had a lot of stars whom she has played as body double with. The 38-year-old star, who is also a real actress, is a stunt coordinator as well. She has 62 stunt credits on IMDb, and there are movie projects that she is about to do yet, like Avatar 2 and Avatar 3. Alicia has a bright future ahead of her in this business, and fans will see more of her in the coming years. You, actually, often see her; you just don’t know it’s her.

Tom Cruise | The Mummy

Tom Cruise usually does his movie stunts, especially in the movie series Mission Impossible. He doesn’t go all the way, however, and in some cases, he also needs a stunt double. The 58-year-old star is a little picky, though. His stunt doubles should be the ones he has worked with in the past and in the major action films he did, like Jack Reacher and Knight and Day. We all know the degree of dedication Tom puts into every project, so everything must be perfect for him.

When he did The Mummy in 2017, he had Cooper Adrian as his body double. He’s not only Tom’s stunt double; he’s his doppelganger. Can you see the difference between the two? They almost look like twins; you can even mistake Cooper for Tom. Cooper, anyhow, is left with nothing to do sometimes as Tom likes to do his own work.

You’ve Reached The End
